Yamaha E-Bikes
About Yamaha
Yamaha created their first prototype e-bike in 1989 and began selling their PAS bicycle in 1993 in Japan. In 1995 they designed a detachable, nicke-cadmium battery as well as a new charger with a refresh-charge function. In 1999, they created an Intelligent Flexible Energy System, which enabled the data exchange between the battery, charger, and controller. 2003 is when they developed their center-mounted drive unit with an efficient direct-to-chain feature. They also implemented a non-contact torque sensor to lighten pedaling when the battery is empty. They hit a milestone in 2008 when they reached 1 million bicycles sold and created a 'Brace' model upon requests of consumers asking for a sportier recreation bike with Yamaha PAS technology. They introducted the Triple Sensor System to the all-new PWseries, increasing the precision of the assist control which results in a very natural and organic pedaling feel. Yamaha has been an electronic super star for years, it makes sense that they'd get into developing e-bikes, and that their bikes would be some of the best around!
